Our International Dimension
International Dimensions
We are committed to giving pupils the opportunity to engage with and learn from other countries and cultures. We have established relationships with organisations across the world and this enables our students to take up their place within a diverse global community.
Education Trips Abroad
We work with partners across the world to give our students the opportunity to travel to a wide range of countries and develop skills outside of a classroom environment. Our aims are to teach young people life skills in a real-life context including leadership, money management, communication, travel experience, culture interaction, team work and physical and mental strength to name but a few.
Our Year 8 cohort visit Space Camp Belgium, using the opportunity to learn more about culture and putting their language skills into practice with visits to local attractions and activities to help them use what they’ve learned in the classroom. In Year 9, student visit Sorrento in Italy, using their skills and knowledge in hospitality and catering establishments. Students will also be perfecting their complex skills in readiness for KS4 study as well as experiencing the culture of this industry overseas.
Year 10 have the opportunity to visit Barcelona if studying Spanish and Nice when studying French. Both trips support students using their language knowledge in real situations, a skill that cannot be overestimated. Our students use their language skills in real life situations, as well as experiencing the culture and beauty of the cities of Barcelona and Nice. The visit is full of amazing experiences, allowing students to gain invaluable independence, experience, skills, and memories.
The biannual international Easter football tour is a key event in the physical education department calendar. This tour is open to students of all year groups, apart from our new cohort of year 7 students. Having visited Los Angeles, Porto and Madrid in recent times, we are looking to explore Spain again for their next visit in 2026. This includes professional coaching, games against local opposition and a stadium tour of a professional club. There will also be the chance to attend a professional game to experience the atmosphere at a European club game.
Our biannual ski trip offers students the opportunity to travel to Italy and experience winter sports activities that challenges students both mentally and physically. The trip that takes place in February half term, gives students a chance to mix with students from a wide range of year groups and create memories and friends for a lifetime. This opportunity develops a positive mindset and a sense of independence in our young people and is integral to the aim of our personal development curriculum.
