Our International Dimension

International Dimensions

We are committed to giving pupils the opportunity to engage with and learn from other countries and cultures. We have established relationships with organisations across the world and this enables our students to take up their place within a diverse global community.

Education Trips Abroad

We work with partners across the world to give our students the opportunity to travel to a wide range of countries and develop skills outside of a classroom environment. Our aims are to teach young people life skills in a real life context including leadership, money management, communication, travel experience, culture interaction, team work and physical and mental strength to name but a few.

Our Year 8 cohort will be visiting northern France, using the opportunity to learn more about French culture and putting their French skills into practice with visits to local attractions and activities to help them use what they’ve learned in the classroom. Our Year 10 cohort will be visiting Paris, staying at a PGL Centre where they can practise their outdoor and team-building skills as well as their French skills when they visit attractions in the local area, such as Parc Astérix and during a full day in Paris to explore its iconic monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré Coeur.

The art and design visit to Barcelona offers pupils the chance to see amazing architecture, some of the best art galleries in the world and the works of world-renowned artists including Gaudí, Picasso and Dalí. This tour to the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona certainly won’t disappoint. The rich history of the city, as well as the talents of many well-known artists, is visible throughout the city’s many museums, landmarks and educational visits.

The biannual international Easter football tour is a key event in the physical education department calendar. This tour is open to students of all year groups, apart from our new cohort of year 7 students. Having visited Los Angeles and Porto in recent times, we are looking to explore Spain again for their next visit in 2024. This will include professional coaching, games against local opposition and a stadium tour of a professional club. There will also be the chance to attend a professional game to experience the atmosphere at a European club game.

Our biannual ski trip offers students the opportunity to travel to Italy and experience winter sports activities that challenges students both mentally and physically. The trip that takes place in February half term, gives students a chance to mix with students from a wide range of year groups and create memories and friends for a lifetime. This opportunity develops a positive mindset and a sense of independence in our young people and is integral to the aim of our personal development curriculum.
