The House System
The academy is divided into five houses but forms remain horizontal in order that pupils of the same age can form friendships and get to know each other well as part of our academy community. All of our Houses are named after the great English and British Royal Houses: Lancaster, Stuart, Tudor, York and Windsor.
Regular House events take place throughout the academy calendar and include sporting and cultural activities. Most House competitions take place after school but some do take place during the school day, for example, House Athletics. Houses receive points for each activity leading to the presentation of the Governors’ Cup at the end of the academic year. All students are expected and encouraged to take part in house activities and to become as involved in academy life as possible.
