Our International Dimension

We are committed to giving pupils the opportunity to engage with and learn from other countries and cultures. We have established relationships with organisations across the world and this enables our students to take up their place within a diverse global community.

Educational Trips Abroad

We work with partners across the world to give our students the opportunity to travel to a wide range of countries and develop skills outside of a classroom environment. Our aims are to teach young people life skills in a real-life context including leadership, money management, communication, travel experience, cultural interaction, teamwork, and physical and mental strength to name but a few.

In Year 9, students visit Sorrento in Italy on an international residential trip designed to support the development of their understanding of both Italian culture and the hospitality curriculum. During the visit, students engage with hospitality and catering establishments, gaining insight into international standards and practices. They also refine complex practical skills in preparation for KS4 study, while immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Year 10 have the opportunity to visit Barcelona if studying Spanish and Nice when studying French. Both trips support students using their language knowledge in real situations, a skill that cannot be overestimated. Our students use their language skills in real life situations, as well as experiencing the culture and beauty of the cities of Barcelona and Nice. The visit is full of amazing experiences, allowing students to gain invaluable independence, experience, skills, and memories.

The biannual international Easter football tour is a key event in the physical education department calendar. This tour is open to students of all year groups, apart from our new cohort of Year 7 students. Having visited Los Angeles, Porto and Madrid in recent times, we are looking to explore Glasgow and Munich again for their next visits in 2026 and 2027 respectively. This includes professional coaching, games against local opposition and a stadium tour of a professional club. There will also be the chance to attend a professional game to experience the atmosphere at a European club game.

Our biannual ski trip offers students the opportunity to travel to Italy and experience winter sports activities that challenge students both mentally and physically. The trip that takes place in February half term gives students a chance to mix with students from a wide range of year groups and create memories and friends for a lifetime. This opportunity develops a positive mindset and a sense of independence in our young people and is integral to the aim of our personal development curriculum.
